Day Tour Details
Rietvlei Nature Reserve lies within the city limits of the capital of South Africa, Pretoria, and is one of the best spots to go Birding in Johannesburg. This 4,000-hectare (9,885 acres) reserve hosts over 400 bird species in the high-lying grasslands of South Africa. Between the grassland, acacia woodland and wetland habitats we’ll spend half a day birding and exploring as much of it as possible. Grassland targets include the likes of Greater Kestrel, Secretarybird, Northern Black Korhaan, Capped Wheatear, Desert Cisticola and Plain-backed Pipit.
As we explore the Acacia woodland we’ll track down the African Paradise Flycatcher, Cape White-eye, Streaky-headed Seedeater, African Hoopoe, Greater Honeyguide, Black-collared Barbet and Brown-backed Honeybird.
