As you explore the expansive Dinokeng Game Reserve, prepare to encounter not only the Big 5 – Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, and Rhino – but also a diverse array of other captivating mammals, including Greater Kudu, Impala, Nyala, and more. One Day Safaris grants exclusive access to the Mongena Private Concession within Dinokeng Game Reserve, ensuring a private and personalized safari experience unlike any other.
Mongena Game Reserve:
Collection will be arranged beforehand in the Johannesburg area. From Johannesburg, we’ll travel by road for about 1.5-hours to Dinokeng Game Reserve. Once on the reserve, we start traversing the 50 000 acres (20 000 hectares) Game Reserve, as we search for wildlife sightings. As soon as we enter the reserve we’ll come across Impala, Greater Kudu, Plains Zebra, Blue Wildebeest and other more common mammal species.
Driving around the rest of the private concession, we’ll focus on finding the Big 5. This is a family safari experience though, so any interesting sightings or interactions we come across that offer good interaction won’t be overshadowed by the hunt for the Big 5. Whether you’re looking for to escape the city for a day and explore the african bush, or want to track down a specific animal, we tailor the day to your needs and expectations.
After spending a few hours on our open safari vehicle, we’ll take a brunch/lunch break in the heat of the day at Mongena’s Kingfisher restaurant. Here we’ll enjoy all forms of birdlife as we dig into a much-needed meal. As things cool down we head back out into the bush, tracking down Rhinos, Buffalo, Elephant and more.
At the end of the day, once we’ve explored the wilds, we take the 1.5-hour drive back to Johannesburg.
