Looking for a Safari experience that offers more than just open vehicle safari drives? Then our Boat Cruise Safari is the experience for you. With a 1.5-hour drive from Johannesburg, One Day Safari’s exclusive access to Mongena Game Reserve means that we waste no time travelling to and from a world-class Big 5 Game Reserve. We’ll arrive early and get into the experience faster than any other safari operator can offer you in a day tour.
Our early morning Safari drive puts us in the best possible position to encounter not only the Big 5 (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant & Rhino) but also see large mammal species such as Plains Zebra, Wildebeest, Greater Kudu, Impala, Nyala, Warthog, Waterbuck and loads more. What’s more, Dinokeng doesn’t dehorn their Rhino, which in itself is attractive enough to ensure you get the best Safari experience possible.
After spending time in the open safari vehicle, we’ll embark on a relaxing sunset boat cruise, looking for various wildlife and enjoying a sundowner and snacks as the African sun calls it a day over the horizon.
Mongena Game Reserve:
An early pick-up from your hotel will be arranged beforehand. Once you’ve been collected, we take the 1.5-hour drive to the Mongena Private Concession within Dinokeng Game Reserve. One Day Safaris has exclusive day tour access to the Mongena Private Concession, which ensures a private and exclusive experience whilst on Safari.
As soon as we enter the game reserve we could expect to see Plains Zebra, Wildebeest, Impala, Greater Kudu, Warthog and more. We then transfer over to our Open Safari Vehicle for an unhindered view of the African landscape and explore the wilderness. Out on the drive, we’ll track the Big 5 (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant & Rhino) as well as a host of other large mammals such as Giraffe, Red Hartebeest, Nyala and whatever you might find interesting.
After a morning session in the bush, we’ll head to the lodge for brunch/lunch before embarking on an afternoon safari drive as we make our way to the boat. The boat cruise lasts roughly 2-hours and is finished shortly after sunset. From the boat we could encounter Elephants coming for a drink, Hippos and Crocodiles in the water and spectacular views that will take your breath away.
Once we’re done with the boat cruise, we head back to Johannesburg, chatting about the day in the 1.5-hour drive back.
